Perhaps you read last week’s post about all the great spots in Charlotte where you can pick your own strawberries and you now have bunches of berries but don’t quite know what to do with them. Strawberry season is here, and whether you decide to purchase the tasty fruit at your local grocery market or grab a basket and pick them yourself, you’ll want to treat your berries well to savor each bite. Here are a few tips to make the most of one of summer’s finest treasures.

Don’t Wash Them - At least not until you are ready to eat them....they will get mushy.

Keep Them Under Wraps - Place the strawberries in a thin layer on a plate or bowl on top of a clean kitchen and chill.

Put Them on Ice – Hull them using a strong straw and put them in a freezer storage bag.

Never miss a local story.
