It looks like Harris Teeter is going to have a Super Double Coupon Event starting Wednesday July 27th. This is the perfect time to stock up on non-perishables at great savings.

What is a Super Double Coupon Event?

A special sale at Harris Teeter where coupons with a value of $2.00 or less are doubled. At the register when presenting a $2 off coupon, you will save $4. This is an ideal time to add to your stockpile.

What is a stockpile?

Creating a food stockpile can be a great way to combat food inflation and allow consumers to plan for sudden increases in food costs. Because of sales cycles items may be on sale one week and then not on sale again for 4-6 weeks. During Super Double events taking advantage of a high value coupon to buy items you family uses regularly can really save you money long term.

Identify items that are good stockpiling items for your family. Think non- perishables. Great items to stockpile include health and beauty items like toothpaste, shampoo, soap or paper and cleaning products like toilet paper and paper towels. Other great items to stockpile include pet food, cereal, peanut butter, and baking supplies.

Have a place to store the items. Use closet space or in the garage use Rubbermaid containers to keep items safe.

Don’t go CRAZY!! There is a limit. Items will expire and as tempting as it is know when to stop. A great rule of thumb is to have 1 unopened item per family member. If you have 4 people, try to have 4 unopened tubes of toothpaste for example.

How does Super Double work?

They will double coupons with a value of $2.00 or less.

You must use your VIC card

You can only use 3 coupons for the same item and can only use 20 coupons for each transaction/day. This means that with your VIC card you can use the triple coupon special on 20 coupons per day. You cannot use your VIC card at one location on 20 coupons and then go across town and use it again on another 20 coupons. You can use 15 coupons at one HT location and the 5 more at another HT location on the same day.

What is the easiest way to take advantage on some good deals?

Gather coupons. Consider buying extra copies of the Sunday Observer. Ask friend and family for unused coupons.

Even if you don’t clip coupons from the newspaper you can still get in on the savings fun. Visit Coupons.com and Redplum.com and Target.com to get more coupons.
