Construction has wrapped up of a facility near Charlotte Douglas International Airport that has the capacity to distribute about 30,000 fresh avocados daily.

In a statement this week, the Charlotte design firm A M King said it has finished converting a 25,000 warehouse space into a cold storage distribution center for Escondido, Calif.-based Henry Avocado Corp.

The new Charlotte facility will serve as an East Coast hub for Henry, which will use the location to develop a supply chain of fresh avocados to restaurants, food distributors and grocery stores. The fresh avocados come from California, Mexico, Peru and Chile, A M King said.

When the company announced its plans to move into Charlotte last May, it said it would employ about four people at first. A spokeswoman for the company said it will be adding people as more product arrives.
