Charlotte-based Punch Technologies, which created the Punch Alert mobile security platform designed for schools and campuses, is about to introduce a new mobile app called PAL where users can give or receive help in a variety of situations, from running out of gas to reporting ice on the road.

An email describing the app says PAL users can post tips and pictures to describe various situations posted on a map. The company says the app can help users in other scenarios, including reporting a dangerous animal siting, when they're feeling threatened or trapped, or when spotting suspicious activities.

There's a link to request an invite code to the app at http://joinpal.co/.
