The Boss is the latest to snub North Carolina over the state’s House Bill 2, canceling his Sunday concert at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro.
Rock star Bruce Springsteen became perhaps the most prominent figure to speak out against the law striking down a Charlotte ordinance that would have extended anti-discrimination protections to gays, lesbians and transgender people.
“The law attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace,” Springsteen said a statement released Friday. “No other group in North Carolina faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress.
“I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity.”
