The class is a one-month primer on local government with visits to the Charlotte City Council, Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, school board and a tour of courts.

Over more than two decades, hundreds of people have taken the class. Many have gone on to public office.

The cost of five sessions is $60. That includes materials and a final catered dinner.
