Harris Teeter announced on Tuesday a partnership with BP that means discounts for Teeter shoppers when they fuel up at BP and Amoco gas stations.
According to a news release, the Matthews-based grocer’s Fuel Points program means Harris Teeter shoppers can save up to $1 per gallon of fuel for every 1,000 fuel points accumulated on their Fuel Points program account.
The program started on Oct. 2.
Shoppers earn one fuel point for every $1 spent on eligible grocery purchases, and they can earn double fuel points when purchasing eligible retailer gift cards (a $25 gift card purchase means 50 fuel points). Purchasing prescriptions at Harris Teeter pharmacies means even bigger savings, with 50 points earned for every non-federally funded prescription.
The points are redeemed at the pump in increments of 100 points to earn up to $1 off a gallon of fuel. For example, if you spend $100 that’s 100 points, and 10 cents off per gallon. $200 means 200 points and 20 cents off per gallon.
In other words, for approximately every $100 spent at Harris Teeter using a VIC card (the store’s customer loyalty program), shoppers can save 10 cents per gallon on fuel. There is no limited to the number of points you can earn each month, but points can’t be combined month-to-month. You must use each month’s points by the end of the following month.
In addition to being offered at participating Amoco and BP stations, the fuel points can be redeemed at Harris Teeter fuel centers in Fuquay Varina, Holly Springs and Wake Forest.
You must use your VIC account to participate in the program — both at the store when earning points and at the pump when redeeming. When redeeming, the customer will use the phone number associated with the account instead of scanning their card.
